Meet the Speakers
Marzieh Salehi, MD, MS, FACP, is a board-certified endocrinologist with expertise as a clinician, translational investigator, and educator in obesity and diabetes. Dr. Salehi is an associate professor of medicine at UT Health at San Antonio and the Medical Director at the Bartter Research Unit at South Texas Veteran Health Care System, Audie Murphy Hospital. She has been recognized as clinician expert in glucose abnormalities, such as hypoglycemia after bariatric surgery, which has been one of the areas of her research and continuously funded by National Institute of Health, American Heart Association, and American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. The primary focus of her research is the regulation of glucose tolerance and islet-cell secretory response mediated by hormonal and neural factors derived from the gut.
Marc-Andre Cornier, MD, has been on faculty at the University of Colorado with the Division of Endocrinology, Metabolism and Diabetes since 2001, where he is currently a Professor of Medicine and Associate Division Head. Dr. Cornier is the Associate Director and Medical Director of the University of Colorado Anschutz Health and Wellness Center where he is also the Medical Director of the My New Weigh meal-replacement weight loss program. Dr. Cornier is the Director of the Advanced Lipid Disorders Clinic and Lipoprotein Apheresis Program at University of Colorado Hospital. Dr. Cornier is an active clinical and translational investigator with a primary research interest in understanding the complex regulation of food intake and body weight. He is the Director of the Clinical Intervention and Translation Core of the Colorado Nutrition Obesity Research Center.
