We updated our response to address arguments made by the defense.
"The Healthcare Ban, however, disregards this medical evidence by prohibiting healthcare providers from treating adolescent patients with gender dysphoria in accordance with the accepted standard of care. In addition, the Healthcare Ban prevents healthcare providers from utilizing their medical education, training, and expertise in treating these adolescent patients, and profoundly intrudes on the patient-provider relationship by completely banning referrals for gender-affirming medical treatments. It is for these reasons, among others, that pediatricians, endocrinologists, psychiatrists, and other medical professionals practicing in Arkansas opposed the Healthcare Ban, expressing their concern that it would jeopardize their patients’ health and well-being. Accordingly, amici urge this Court to affirm the district court’s preliminary injunction."
"As a group of well-respected medical, mental health, and educational organizations, amici seek to offer this Court their scientific views and insights regarding: the serious medical condition known as gender dysphoria; the accepted standard of care-- known as gender affirming care-- for treating adolescents at risk of or suffering from gender dysphoria; and the consequences of denying gender affirming care to such adolescents as would be required by Arkansas House Bill 1570 (enacted at Act 626 and hereinafter referred to as the "Health Care Ban").
