The article featured this month, by Lévesque et al, was first published online in May 2024: “Publicly Funded Molecular Testing of Indeterminate Thyroid Nodules: Canada’s Experience.”
Meet the Speakers
Sarah Mayson, MD, is the director of the fellowship program in endocrinology, diabetes, and metabolism and an associate professor of medicine at the University of Colorado School of Medicine in Aurora, Colorado. She received her medical degree from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia and completed internal medicine residency and fellowship in endocrinology, diabetes, and metabolism at the University of Pennsylvania. She leads the thyroid nodule clinical program at the University of Colorado Hospital and is a member of the American Thyroid Association adult thyroid nodule guidelines taskforce. She also serves as an associate editor for JCEM Case Reports and as a member of the editorial board for The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism. She is a current member of the Association of Program Directors in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism (APDEM) Council and previously wrote questions for the thyroid section of the Endocrine Society’s Endocrine Self-Assessment Program (ESAP™).
Anupam Kotwal, MD, MSc, is an assistant professor in the Division of Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolism and medical director of the Thyroid Tumor Program at University of Nebraska Medical Center. He is a physician-scientist specializing in thyroid cancer, thyroid nodules, and endocrine adverse effects of cancer therapies. Dr. Kotwal graduated from medical school at University of Delhi in India, after which he completed internal medicine residency at the University of Massachusetts and an endocrinology fellowship at Mayo Clinic. He is a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh, a fellow of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinology, and past-chair of the Midwest section of American Federation for Medical Research. Dr. Kotwal’s research is currently funded by a scholar grant from Great-Plains IDeA-CTR network for the National Institutes of Health/National Institute of General Medical Sciences.
