Funding Guidelines

The Endocrine Society holds itself to the highest standards regarding the separation of the development of educational content and seeking funding for commercial support.  The Society’s Statement on Industry Relationships states, “Seeking of support from outside commercial entities is completely separate from the development of content of the supported activities.”

Ideas and proposals for Society educational activities are developed by the member-led committees including but not limited to the Scientific and Educational Programs Core Committee, Special Programs Committee, and the Annual Meeting Steering Committee with the support of the Society’s Education Department staff.

The Society’s CME Advisory Committee, which review the program to ensure compliance with the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) and American Medical Association (AMA) guidelines. While the programs are supported by educational grants from industry, they are developed by the Society without any influence from the supporter on the educational content of the program.

External guidelines and policies (such as the ACCME’s Standards for Commercial Support, the OIG’s Compliance Program Guidance for Pharmaceutical Manufacturers, PhRMA’s new Code on Interaction with Healthcare Professionals, AdvaMed’s Code for Ethics for Interactions with Healthcare Professionals, etc.) may impact availability or access to the sponsorship opportunities currently listed.
